Magneto Optic Isolators
Optical isolator is an optical passive device that only allows light to travel in one direction. It is a typical magneto-optical device. Its working principle is based on the magneto-optical effect, that is, when a beam of polarized light passes through a transparent material placed in a magnetic field, the polarization direction of the light will rotate. The direction of rotation depends on the direction of the magnetic field, not the direction of light propagation (independent of the direction of light transmission). Therefore, the direction of rotation is irreversible.

Magneto Optic Isolators Information
The optical fiber isolator is also known as Faraday isolator. When the light travels in the forward direction, the light can pass through smoothly (its loss is very small), and the light returned in the reverse direction will be deflected by the isolator. The materials used to make the rotator element of the isolator mainly include YIG and TGG. YIG is mainly used in the band above 1100 nm, while TGG is mainly used in the band below 1100 nm.
In the laser system, the reverse return light will cause the intensity noise of the light source or damage the laser, and the optical fiber isolator can protect the light source from the influence of the reverse return light. Therefore, the optical isolator is widely used in the laser system.
