Telecentric Lenses
A telecentric lens is a type of optical lens where the chief rays of light, are parallel to the optical axis either on the objective side (called objective space telecentric) or image side (called image space telecentric), or both (called bi-telecentric), regardless of the field of view. It is useful for imaging and measurement applications. It is commonly used in machine vision systems, where precise measurements of objects are required.
Telecentric lenses are also used in applications where the object being imaged is moving, such as in high-speed inspection systems, as they eliminate the parallax error that can occur with non-telecentric lenses. It provides constant magnification with very low distortion and eliminates perspective error. These lenses are very useful to ensure accurate measurements in machine vision applications.
